Have just come to the end of the first stage of a long term strategy for building up The Marketing Table Team.
I must admit it took longer than expected but it was very worthwhile. I started the process with creating the organisational chart for the business as I envisage it for the future. And that’s a very interesting process.
You have to balance dreams with making those dreams real. I know that I was able to do that by first describing the endgame to myself on paper and then scaling back to what do I want today or tomorrow. In other words what’s the next best step and converted that into roles.
Then I wrote the job specifications for both roles. My trick for job specifications is not only to define the role but also to start the process of communicating the culture and philosophy of the business and embedding that into the job spec. I believe that this is critical for setting the scene for the person you add to the team. And that job spec of course is embedded into the employment contract.
I have to thank Karen Frampton who helped with the whole recruitment process. She spent time understanding the culture and direction of the business and didn’t rest until she got a perfect match. It is great that she has a background in marketing so she could understand exactly what I was talking about when I defined the kind of person I wanted.
The next addition to the team starts next Monday, the 31st January so come back and visit and I’ll introduce her next week.
